APC calls on Atiku to offer alternatives to Tinubu’s reforms — Premium Times Nigeria
In Nigeria, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to present detailed alternatives to the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said that criticizing government policy was not enough and that the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) should explain how he plans to address the country’s economic problems and improve people’s living standards.
Morka said this on the Politics Today programme on Channels Television, Premium Times Nigeria reports. According to him, Atiku has not yet presented a detailed alternative to the measures introduced by the Tinubu administration.
Removal of fuel subsidies
The APC representative defended the decision to remove petrol subsidies. He said that all major candidates in the 2023 presidential election had promised to end such subsidies, and Tinubu fulfilled this promise.

Morka acknowledged that Nigerians are facing economic hardship, but described the reforms as necessary to address structural problems that had accumulated over decades. He also rejected claims that the government’s measures had worsened the economy, saying it is now in a stronger position than at the beginning of Tinubu’s presidential term.
Funding and currency reforms
Morka questioned how Atiku would finance possible proposals to restore or expand subsidies. According to him, promises to reduce the cost of petrol, electricity, or other basic services require a clear financing plan.
In addition, the APC representative supported the government’s currency reforms, including the unification of exchange rates. He said that the previous system did not reflect the value of the naira, and that unification was needed to improve the country’s economic prospects.
