The Ukrainian plane attacked by a drone in Leipzig was loaded with ammunition – Tagesschau

The Ukrainian An-124 cargo plane operated by Antonov Airlines, near which a drone carrying explosives was discovered at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany, was loaded with military ammunition from France for onward transport.

This is according to a joint investigation by German media outlets, citing a confidential police report.

Details of the drone incident On the evening of August 4, airport staff noticed a modified drone that had bypassed the detection system and was hovering at low altitude near the Ukrainian aircraft. After making contact with an employee, the drone came down to the ground. A package containing explosives (presumably Semtex) was attached to it, and bomb disposal experts from Saxony defused the device.

Collision with a DHL Aircraft Due to the suspension of airport operations, a DHL cargo plane from Marseille, traveling at 500 km/h, collided with an unidentified object (presumably a second drone) near the airport fence. The aircraft landed safely in Hanover with damage to the nose and tail sections. Biological analysis ruled out a collision with a bird.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described the incident as a hybrid attack scenario. The perpetrators and organizers of the incident have not yet been identified.
