Israel's EL AL airline has suspended flights due to Ukrainian drones
The Israeli airline EL AL has temporarily suspended flights on the Tel Aviv–Moscow route due to the deteriorating security situation in the airspace over the Russian capital. Passengers were notified in advance of the flight cancellations starting June 25, according to media reports.
The company stated that regular threats of drone attacks and periodic restrictions on operations at Moscow airports are creating significant uncertainty in the schedule and making it impossible to operate flights reliably. Flights have been suspended until the situation allows for flight safety to be guaranteed.
According to Russian sources, in mid-June, Kyiv intensified its drone strikes on the Moscow area, leading to a series of large-scale incidents in the airspace. There were reports of dozens of drones shot down on various days, as well as hundreds of delayed and canceled flights at the Moscow hub.
EL AL’s decision has already sparked political commentary. Some analysts point out that the fact that a foreign airline has suspended flights to Moscow underscores the growing security risks even deep within Russia’s rear.
