Bangladesh Linked Tariq Rahman's Visit to India to Hasina's Extradition
Bangladesh has stated that the proposed visit by Prime Minister Tariq Rahman to India is unlikely to take place, unless New Delhi makes progress on the issue of extraditing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and others wanted by Dhaka.
According to NDTV World, representatives from Bangladesh and India have been in contact for several weeks regarding the possibility of Rahman’s visit to New Delhi. Bangladesh Foreign Ministry spokesperson AKM Shahidul Karim said these discussions were influenced by a public event featuring Hasina in New Delhi on August 5.

Karim stated that favorable conditions should be created for the visit. According to him, Bangladesh has asked the Indian side to take action as soon as possible regarding the extradition request for Hasina and other fugitives.
Dhaka also requested that those accused of murdering Shahid Sharif Osman Hadi be handed over to Bangladesh in accordance with the bilateral extradition treaty and stated that it is awaiting a response. Indian authorities, for their part, stated that the press conference involving Hasina and Bangladeshi representatives was not connected to the Indian government.
