Bennett escorted out of restaurant in Israel after incident — Jerusalem Post

Former Israeli Prime Minister and leader of the B'Yachad party Naftali Bennett was escorted out of the Motis restaurant in Bnei Brak after an incident during his visit. An object was thrown in Bennett's direction, but it did not hit him. Police detained a suspect.

As The Jerusalem Post reports, Bennett's party said that he was meeting with several yeshiva students. About half an hour later, a group of political activists arrived at the scene.

According to the party, two thrown objects hit a member of Bennett's staff in the head. Medics from the Magen David Adom service provided her with assistance at the scene, and no further treatment was needed. Bennett later spoke with her and heard that she was feeling well.

At the same time, police said that a passerby walking past the restaurant threw an object toward a “public figure” but did not hit them. Law enforcement officers who were at the scene immediately detained the man and took him in for questioning.

Crowd near the restaurant

Videos circulated on social media show a crowd near the restaurant and disorder during Bennett's visit. According to reports from the scene, people whom the publication describes as extremists threatened the former prime minister, after which police escorted him from the premises.

Right-wing activist Mordechai David was among those present. Video footage captured his verbal dispute with Bennett and people standing near him. During the conversation, Bennett told David that he should complete his military service sooner because, according to Bennett, after he becomes prime minister, David will not receive money from the state.
