At the UN, Britain rejected Russia's attempts to redraw Ukraine's borders
Russia’s attempts to annex Ukrainian territories do not alter the fact of Ukraine’s sovereignty and cannot redraw its internationally recognized borders.
Sarah McIntosh, the United Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the UN, made this statement during the general debate at the UN General Assembly. She emphasized that military actions and attempts to consolidate control over the occupied regions constitute a direct violation of the UN Charter.
The British diplomat highlighted the occupiers’ numerous crimes, including the forcible deportation of children, torture, forced passport issuance, and the destruction of cultural heritage. The United Kingdom called on UN member states to pressure Russia to grant humanitarian access, to support holding the aggressor accountable, and reaffirmed its unwavering support for Ukraine’s right to self-defense and the achievement of a just peace.

Russia must immediately, completely, and unconditionally withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territory, and the international community must intensify diplomatic efforts to end the war. This was stated by UN General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock during a debate on the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
The countries of Northern Europe and the Baltic states demanded the immediate, complete, and unconditional withdrawal of all Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. A joint statement on behalf of Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, and Finland at the UN General Assembly session on the situation in the temporarily occupied territories was delivered by Heili Lehto, Deputy Permanent Representative of Finland to the UN.
