The Czech Republic has received its first C-390 Millennium military aircraft
The Czech Republic has received the first Embraer C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft it ordered from Brazil. This is the first of two aircraft that are expected to significantly enhance the transport capabilities of the Czech Air Force.
Along with the aircraft, the country is receiving personnel training, ground equipment, and spare parts. The Czech Republic has also ordered special modules for in-flight refueling and a fire suppression system.
The first Embraer C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft has already arrived at the 24th Transport Aviation Base in Prague-Kbely. The aircraft was delivered by the Brazilian company Embraer as part of a contract the Czech Republic signed in 2024. The agreement provides for the delivery of two modern transport aircraft for the needs of the Czech Air Force.
In addition to the aircraft themselves, the agreement includes training for crews and technical personnel, the necessary ground equipment, and a set of spare parts for aircraft maintenance. The Czech side also ordered additional modules that enable in-flight refueling, as well as the MAFFS II fire suppression system. This system allows the military transport aircraft to be used to combat large-scale wildfires.
The second C-390 Millennium is expected to arrive in the Czech Republic at a later date. The exact delivery date has not yet been announced. The total value of the contract is 11.3 billion Czech korunas. For this amount, the country will receive not only the aircraft but also a full support package for their operation.
The new aircraft are expected to significantly expand the capabilities of the Czech Republic’s transport aviation. Currently, this component is based on six CASA C-295MW tactical transport aircraft, which are used to transport personnel and cargo and to carry out humanitarian missions. The Ministry of Defense expects that the C-390 Millennium will help speed up transport operations, deliver equipment and personnel, and participate in international missions with allies.
