16 million barrels of oil were transported through the Strait of Hormuz overnight — Axios
On the night of August 21–22, about 40 oil tankers passed through the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz, carrying approximately 16 million barrels of oil. According to Axios, the ships were traveling in both directions near the coast of Oman.
Axios correspondent Barak Ravid reported this on social media platform X, citing U.S. officials.
“On Friday evening, about 40 tankers passed through the Strait of Hormuz and exited via the southern deep-water channel,” Ravid wrote.
According to him, these vessels carried out about 16 million barrels of oil.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported on the social media platform X that more than 20 military ships are continuing the U.S. naval blockade against Iran.
CENTCOM notes that as of August 21, U.S. forces had redirected 68 commercial vessels, disabled 3, and boarded 2 more vessels to ensure compliance with the rules isolating Iranian ports.
