The U.S. State Department has urged Americans not to travel to Ukraine
The U.S. State Department has updated its travel advisory for Ukraine and urged U.S. citizens to refrain from visiting the country due to the war and ongoing Russian attacks.
The United States has maintained the fourth and highest danger level for Ukraine—“Do Not Travel.”
U.S. citizens are advised not to travel to Ukraine for any reason due to Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
At the same time, the State Department emphasized that the travel advisory level itself has not changed. The agency has merely updated information on current risks associated with the armed conflict and clarified the general description of the warning for U.S. citizens.
The primary reasons for maintaining the highest risk level remain the war and Russia’s regular missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian territory.
Russian troops continue to strike Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Kharkiv.
These attacks are damaging civilian infrastructure and causing civilian deaths and injuries.
Despite the challenging security situation, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv remains open.
Thus, the State Department’s update does not imply a change in the danger level for Ukraine—the country remains at Level 4 on the U.S. travel advisory scale.
