Diplomat Klich demands Carlson apologize for remarks about attack on Poland — Interia
Poland’s chargé d’affaires in the United States, Bogdan Klich, in an open letter demanded that American journalist Tucker Carlson immediately and publicly retract his statements about Germany’s aggression against Poland in 1939 and apologize. Interia reports.
Klich said he was outraged by what he considers Carlson’s false and disturbing remarks regarding the beginning of World War II. The Polish diplomat called the justification of the German invasion of Poland an insult to the memory of millions of victims, including American servicemen who were killed or wounded during the liberation of Europe.
Polish diplomat’s reaction
In the letter, Klich also responded to claims that the United Kingdom allegedly had nothing to do with the conflict. He stressed that Britain’s and France’s declaration of war on Germany was not merely the fulfillment of allied obligations. According to him, had London and Paris not opposed Germany, they themselves could have become targets of attack.

The diplomat recalled that Germany attacked Poland on September 1, 1939, calling it a carefully planned and brutal war of aggression. He also mentioned the secret protocol of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact, which, in his assessment, paved the way for the tragedy of millions of residents of Central and Eastern Europe, including the near-total destruction of European Jewry.
What Carlson said
The reason for the letter was Carlson’s conversation with former British Conservative Party MP Jacob Rees-Mogg. During the interview, the journalist questioned the assertion that Adolf Hitler attacked Poland without provocation and referred to provisions of the Treaty of Versailles and claims that some Polish lands had previously belonged to Germany.
Carlson also reflected on why the United Kingdom considered the conflict over Poland grounds for entering the war. Rees-Mogg responded that he was surprised by how closely the host’s position came to defending Hitler.
