Brussels expects to allocate additional funding to Ukraine in the amount of 2.5 to 2.7 billion euros under the Ukraine Facility, in light of progress made in aligning Ukrainian legislation with European Union standards.
This was stated by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, according to Politico.
According to her, the funding could be approved once Ukraine has “finally implemented” the necessary reforms under the program.
While in the United States, where she is participating in the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, Kos noted that Ukraine will be one of the key topics of discussion during the G20 ministerial meeting on the sidelines of the financial discussions.
She suggested that it is there that a decision on a new financial package for Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility could be officially announced.
Separately, the European Commissioner expressed hope for rapid progress in negotiations on Ukraine and Moldova’s accession to the European Union and the opening of all negotiation chapters.
At the same time, the European Commission has already allowed both countries to begin technical preparations for the relevant chapters of the negotiations, despite the blocking of the formal process by Viktor Orbán’s government.
