Finland will deploy reservists to patrols following incidents involving Ukrainian drones

Finland will deploy reservists to patrols following incidents involving Ukrainian drones

The Finnish Armed Forces plan to deploy military reservists to monitor airspace and patrol the country.

This was reported by Yle.

This decision was made due to the periodic appearance of Ukrainian drones entering the country’s airspace during attacks on Russian strategic targets.

According to the defense forces, drones heading toward Russian ports near St. Petersburg sometimes change course and end up over Finnish territory.

This places an additional burden on regular army units and the border guard service, which conduct surveillance on land and at sea.

Personnel will be mobilized in the form of special training exercises to refresh their professional skills. Invitations will be sent to reservists who have previously officially agreed to participate in such activities if necessary.

Utilizing the experience of trained fighters should significantly relieve the personnel services, which are currently operating in an enhanced mode near the borders with Russia.

The army and other agencies are maintaining constant surveillance of the situation to respond promptly to any threats to airspace security.

The country’s military command has also issued an important warning to the civilian population.

Citizens are urged not to disclose information regarding the location or movements of military units, in particular to avoid posting photos or videos on social media.
