Photo: Ahead of the NATO summit, Trump took another jab at Meloni
On the eve of the NATO leaders’ meeting in Ankara, U.S. President Donald Trump once again took a sarcastic jab at Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. To do so, he used a photo from the G7 summit, posting it on his social media platform Truth Social with a mocking caption.
Trump shared a photo showing Meloni looking at him during the G7 summit, which took place last month in France. The photo was captioned “Restraining order needed.”
A restraining order is a court order that prohibits a person from approaching someone who is experiencing unwanted attention or harassment. In this way, Trump sarcastically implied that the Italian prime minister is allegedly too enamored with him.
According to the newspaper Corriere della Sera, the Italian government does not intend to respond to the U.S. president’s latest post. As the publication notes, overnight, Giorgia Meloni and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani agreed on a position to ignore what they consider a personal and unfounded attack by Trump.

Italian politicians also reacted to the U.S. president’s post. “Trump is a despicable bully. Full solidarity with the prime minister,” wrote Carlo Calenda, leader of the Azione party.
As a reminder, the U.S. ambassador attempted to reconcile Meloni and Trump.
Earlier, Sánchez sided with Meloni following Trump’s attacks.
Macron also commented on the new conflict between Trump and Meloni.
