France and Germany will develop a new roadmap regarding China
French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz agreed to draft a new roadmap by September outlining the European Union’s policy toward China.
The leaders made this announcement during a joint press conference.
Friedrich Merz emphasized that the EU must respond to the growing trade imbalance with China, which is negatively affecting European industry. At the same time, he noted that Berlin does not seek a new conflict with Beijing.
Emmanuel Macron, for his part, stated that France and Germany’s positions on China are currently as aligned as possible. According to him, this is precisely why the countries intend to present a joint roadmap by September.

Starmer’s award served as yet another symbol of the deepening cooperation between the United Kingdom and France. In recent years, both countries have been actively coordinating their actions on issues of European security, military aid to Ukraine, and countering Russian aggression, according to The Guardian.
France will provide Ukraine with its most advanced Rafale fighter jets and will also grant licenses for the production of missiles and aerial bombs. The first French aircraft are expected to appear in Ukrainian skies in 2028–2029.
