Iran's foreign minister arrived in Oman for talks on maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi has arrived in Oman for talks on ensuring the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz amid tensions in the region.
The parties are expected to discuss measures to ensure the safety of maritime navigation. According to media reports, the U.S. is seeking public assurances from Iran regarding free and safe transit through the strait.
The day before, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington and Tehran had agreed to continue negotiations despite the end of the ceasefire. At the same time, no new attacks between the sides were reported on Friday or during the first half of Saturday.
According to Reuters, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Representative Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner may join the talks. It is currently unknown whether the meeting will take place in person in Oman or online.
