Malta's Foreign Minister called on Europe to mount a joint response to the migration crises

Malta’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chris Firn, stated that Europe must look beyond its own borders to solve the migration problem. In an interview with Al Jazeera, he called for a stronger and more coordinated response from European countries to the crises in the Mediterranean and beyond.

Firn disagreed with the approach that views the Mediterranean Sea as a border between wealthier Europe and less affluent Africa. In his view, it should serve as a bridge connecting the two regions.

The head of Malta’s foreign ministry also stated Malta’s support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In addition, he called for continued European support for Ukraine.

According to Firn, Malta supports efforts aimed at holding elections in Libya and reuniting its rival political forces. He also warned that the world has become a more dangerous place and that the principle of the rule of law does not always apply in international relations.
