Saudi Foreign Minister Says Kingdom Supports Peace — Asharq Al-Awsat

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, said that the kingdom’s participation in the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly reflects the country’s course toward engagement with the international community, support for peace and security, dialogue and mediation.

He said this in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Asharq Al-Awsat reports. According to the minister, Saudi Arabia also seeks to contribute to efforts to overcome shared challenges.

Principles of international cooperation

Prince Faisal noted that Riyadh views the current General Assembly session as an opportunity to reaffirm the principles on which international institutions, above all the UN, were founded. The session’s theme is “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformations: A United Nations that Works for All”.

Sovereignty and artificial intelligence

Against the backdrop of events in the region, the minister stressed the need to comply with international law, including respect for the sovereignty of states, resolving disputes by peaceful means, and guaranteeing the security and freedom of navigation on international waterways.

He also said that Saudi Arabia pays special attention to sustainable development, in particular artificial intelligence technologies and their responsible use. The use of AI, the foreign minister noted, should contribute to the development of various sectors, increasing their efficiency and supporting innovation.
