India summoned a Russian diplomat over the killing of its sailors in the Black Sea

The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Vladimir Ladanov, the Russian chargé d'affaires, expressing its “unequivocal condemnation” of the Russian strike on the civilian dry cargo ship MV Golden Leo near the port of Odesa. Ten people were killed in the attack, including four Indian sailors and a Ukrainian pilot. 

New Delhi emphasized the unacceptability of attacks on civilian shipping, noting that this is the first instance of Indian citizens losing their lives as a result of Russia’s war against Ukraine. 

In addition, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga emphasized that Russia is systematically attacking foreign cargo ships in the Black Sea, posing a threat to international maritime trade and the lives of civilians from various countries.

This was reported by the Hindustan Times, citing a statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine stressed that such attacks pose a danger to international shipping, undermine the stability of global trade, and threaten global food security.

Earlier, on July 13, Russian forces launched an attack on Odesa. As a result of the attack, a transport infrastructure facility in the city was hit.
