Gal Gadot initiative to allocate $3 mln for mental health support in Israel — Jerusalem Post

An initiative linked to Israeli actress Gal Gadot’s Genesis Prize will allocate $3 million to 24 nonprofit organizations in Israel that provide psychological assistance and work with trauma. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post, citing the Genesis Prize Foundation.

Gadot, the 2026 Genesis Prize laureate, directed her $1 million cash award to the program. Another $2 million was raised as part of a fundraising campaign led by the Jewish Funders Network; the money came from private and corporate donors.

Support for specialists and those affected

The grants are intended to support treatment, counseling after traumatic events, training for people who care for others, and social work. Among the named funding recipients are Make-A-Wish Israel, United Hatzalah, and CareGivers Israel.

The programs of the selected organizations operate in northern, southern, and central Israel. They are designed for mental health professionals, frontline workers, educators, social workers, family caregivers, children and young people, as well as people who have experienced the trauma of war and hostilities.

Selection of organizations

The Genesis Prize Foundation and the Jewish Funders Network received 150 applications from Israeli nonprofits over two months. Fifty-four organizations advanced to the next stage of selection, and 24 were chosen from them.

Applications were assessed based on demonstrated impact, organizational capacity, and the potential to strengthen mental health and caregiver support services in Israel. Each recipient had to secure co-funding from a new donor or obtain an increased contribution from an existing one.

Gadot said she wants to dedicate the funds to doctors, nurses, paramedics, mental health professionals, and caregivers who help people recover. According to her, the initiative is meant to support those who care for others every day.
