Iran has allowed Chinese ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz — Reuters

Iranian authorities have begun granting permission to certain Chinese vessels to pass through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

This became possible after a series of agreements were reached regarding navigation rules in the crisis-stricken region, which is suffering from military hostilities.

According to Reuters, citing the Fars news agency, Tehran took this step following official requests from China’s foreign minister and the Chinese ambassador.

The decision to facilitate the free passage of ships is based on the principles of strategic partnership between the two countries.

Joint statements by the leaders of the world’s leading nations provided an important political backdrop for this decision.

The announcement of the easing of restrictions came after U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping emphasized the need to ensure the free movement of energy resources.

The Iranian side emphasizes that navigation safety remains under its strict control.

Official Tehran stresses that neutral vessels, particularly those associated with China, may only cross the strait provided there is full coordination with the Iranian armed forces.

The first results of the agreements have already been recorded by international shipping monitoring systems.

According to tracking data, a Chinese tanker carrying 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil successfully passed through the strait on Wednesday after a lengthy delay.

The Strait of Hormuz has once again come to a near standstill

The U.S. military also struck the vessel Touska, which was attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz under the Iranian flag despite the blockade.

Recall that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not consider the war with Iran to be over.

Official Tehran refused to participate in the second round of peace talks with the United States, which were to take place in Islamabad.

Iran rejected Trump’s claims regarding the transfer of uranium to the U.S. and accused him of manipulation.
