Iran may be preparing a coordinated attack on Israel — Jerusalem Post

In Israel, it is believed that Iran is preparing for a large-scale coordinated attack against the country from several directions at once. According to assessments cited by The Jerusalem Post, Tehran seeks to involve its own forces, the Lebanese group Hezbollah, Hamas, Yemen’s Houthis, and pro-Iranian armed groups in Iraq in a single campaign.

Coordination across several fronts

Israeli assessments indicate that the plan envisages simultaneous actions on several fronts. Such a scenario would differ from the Hamas attack on October 7, when Iran’s other allies did not launch coordinated large-scale actions simultaneously with the attack from the Gaza Strip.

Documents seized from Hamas in the Gaza Strip after the attack contained instructions on the need to “connect and prepare external fronts” — in particular, in Lebanon, Syria, and Sinai. They also referred to agreeing in advance on communication mechanisms for peacetime and war.

At the same time, according to published U.S. and Israeli assessments, Iran and Hezbollah were not informed in advance about all the details of the October 7 attack plan and its exact date. According to these assessments, Yahya Sinwar expected that the success of the initial attack would later draw Hezbollah and Iran into a broader campaign.

Increased contacts between groups

Arab media reported that Tehran is trying to eliminate the previous lack of coordination and ensure simultaneous actions by different fronts. Last month, information also emerged that the Israel Defense Forces had recorded renewed coordination between Hamas and Hezbollah with Iran’s assistance.

According to a published assessment by the Israeli military, Hamas and Hezbollah have in recent weeks already coordinated an intensification of their actions with Iranian assistance. Separate reports also concerned talks between senior Quds Force officials and commanders of Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iraqi groups on expanding the confrontation.

Two senior officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that during the previous period of calm, Quds Force representatives held conference calls with the commanders of these groups, while Iranian advisers worked with them on the ground. There were also reports of Iran’s efforts to accelerate the production of missiles and drones and restore damaged capabilities.
