Iran thanked Pakistan for efforts toward peace — Dawn
In Tehran, Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni thanked Pakistan’s military and civilian leadership for their efforts to establish peace and stability in the region. He said this during a meeting with Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Dawn reports.
Talks in Tehran
According to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, Naqvi and Momeni discussed bilateral Pakistani-Iranian relations as well as the latest situation in the region. The Iranian minister separately thanked Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, as well as Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Momeni said that Iran was grateful to Pakistan for its continued efforts to establish peace in the region and described the Pakistani side’s visit as useful. The sides also reviewed the progress of cooperation between the interior ministries of the two countries in various areas.

Bilateral relations
For his part, Mohsin Naqvi said that relations between Pakistan and Iran would strengthen even further in the coming days. Iranian media had previously reported that Momeni met the Pakistani minister at the airport upon his arrival in Tehran.
The visit took place amid Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts concerning the memorandum of understanding that the United States and Iran signed in July. According to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that Naqvi’s trip would focus on bilateral relations and would not involve the exchange of specific mediation messages. In July, Naqvi and Momeni had already discussed bilateral ties, trade, regional developments and opportunities for cooperation in Pakistan.
