Jerusalem Post urges Israel to review British privileges over sanctions
The editorial board of the Israeli publication The Jerusalem Post called on Israel to review certain privileges and formats of diplomatic engagement with the United Kingdom after London announced measures concerning Israeli settlements in the West Bank. The editorial stresses that diplomatic relations must be based on reciprocity, but intelligence cooperation between the two countries should not be terminated.
London's measures regarding settlements
The publication noted that the United Kingdom has already imposed sanctions on Israeli ministers, restricted arms exports, suspended trade negotiations, and recognized the State of Palestine. In the editorial board's view, the new measures regarding settlements have become another source of tension in relations that British authorities simultaneously describe as strategically important.
The editorial's authors believe that Israel could review the British side's discretionary access and privileges, as well as certain aspects of diplomatic cooperation. At the same time, they opposed ending intelligence sharing between the two countries.

Intelligence cooperation
The Jerusalem Post recalled a 2015 case in which the British MI5 service discovered approximately 3.5 tonnes of ammonium nitrate that Hezbollah had stored in northwest London. Israeli officials later said that the intelligence that helped British authorities uncover the cache had been provided by Mossad.
According to the editorial board, the UK's Intelligence and Security Committee disclosed details of this operation in 2025 and described the stockpile of the substance as a reserve for a possible future attack. The publication also noted that on the day the measures regarding settlements were announced, Britain strengthened sanctions against Iran by expanding financial, trade, and aviation restrictions.
The article mentions that UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese had called on Britain the previous day to gradually suspend intelligence cooperation with Israel. The Jerusalem Post editorial board opposed this proposal, stating that information sharing is necessary to prevent terrorist attacks, counter Iranian operations, and protect citizens.
