China tightens drone regulations in Beijing amid security concerns
The Beijing authorities have implemented stricter rules on drone usage, significantly tightening controls over their sale, storage, and transportation in response to security concerns at low altitude and the growth of the so-called low-altitude economy.

The new regulation bans the sale or rental of drones and 17 key components without permission from public security authorities. Additionally, the import of new devices into the city is prohibited, except for those already registered and owned by verified users.
From May 1, within the Sixth Ring Road area, it will be prohibited to store more than three drones or ten essential components at one location. These measures address growing concerns about safety in low-altitude airspace and the expansion of UAV-based delivery and other services.
These changes aim to reinforce regulation and reduce risks associated with drone use, which is becoming an integral part of Beijing’s developing economy.
Overall, the tougher regulations are poised to reshape Beijing’s drone market and enhance security management at low altitudes.
