The statement was made in the year of the fifth anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both sides, China and ASEAN have achieved results in practical cooperation in various fields. According to him, economic and trade ties between the sides are becoming increasingly closer.

China is ready to cooperate with ASEAN states and use the opportunities of the China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, Guo Jiakun said. He noted that Beijing seeks to unlock the potential of interaction in various sectors, achieve mutual benefit at a higher level, and build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
