Congressman Jim Jordan predicts a third impeachment of Trump — The Hill

In the United States, Republican Congressman Jim Jordan said that Democrats, in his view, could impeach President Donald Trump for a third time after the two previous proceedings if they regain control of the House of Representatives following the November midterm elections. He made the statement in an interview with the Cats Roundtable radio show, The Hill reports.

Jordan's forecast

According to Jordan, Democrats could use the House of Representatives' oversight powers for political investigations. He suggested that members of the president's family and officials in his administration could become their targets.

The Ohio congressman also said that Democrats, including the senior Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, Jamie Raskin, could seek to impeach FBI Director Kash Patel, Attorney General Todd Blanche, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Jordan also suggested possible scrutiny of private companies that, according to him, assisted with the inauguration, as well as Republican Party candidates in the 2028 presidential election and their running mates.

Control of the House of Representatives

According to a Decision Desk HQ forecast, Democrats have a 72% chance of regaining control of the House of Representatives. House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries did not rule out another impeachment of the president. At the same time, he said that Raskin and Robert Garcia would lead efforts to hold the president accountable if they become chairs of the relevant committees.

Trump previously warned Republicans that losing control of the House of Representatives could lead to another impeachment. An impeachment attempt initiated this month by Democrat Al Green over the president's immigration policy failed.

Trump has already been impeached twice: in 2019, over a threat to withhold military aid to Ukraine unless President Volodymyr Zelensky investigated the case involving then-candidate Joe Biden, and a second time after the January 6, 2021, storming of the Capitol. In both cases, the Senate acquitted Trump; during the second vote, he was no longer serving as president.
