EU leaders warned of a threat following the crash of a Russian missile in Poland
European Union leaders have responded to the incident involving a Russian X-101 cruise missile that fell in the Lublin Voivodeship of Poland. EU leaders emphasized that this incident confirms that Russian aggression poses a threat not only to Ukraine but also to the security of all of Europe.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called the crash of the Russian missile an “unacceptable violation of Poland’s airspace.”
“The Polish people, as we know, know no fear, Mr. Donald Tusk, and our thoughts are with them. To put an end to this situation, we are doing everything we can to help Ukraine win this war. And we are building a robust European security architecture on land, at sea, and in the air,” von der Leyen stated.
European Council President António Costa also emphasized that the violation of Polish airspace by a Russian missile once again demonstrates the threat that Russia poses to all of Europe.
“The European Union expresses its full solidarity with the Ukrainian and Polish authorities, who are working tirelessly to protect and defend their citizens. We are stepping up our support to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense system, including anti-missile and anti-drone defenses. Europe will continue to stand united in the face of this aggression,” Costa emphasized.
The European Union confirmed that it will continue to strengthen its support for Ukraine, particularly in the area of air defense, and will also reinforce the European security system to counter the Russian threat.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga held talks with his Polish counterpart, Radosław Sikorski, after a Russian cruise missile violated Polish airspace. The parties discussed the consequences of the incident and further steps in response to the threat from Russia.
