Lithuania has called Russia's new threats regarding Kaliningrad "psychological pressure"
Lithuania has responded to Russia’s statements regarding the possibility of using force should NATO countries attempt to isolate the Kaliningrad region. Officials in Vilnius called such threats unfounded and aimed at exerting psychological pressure.
Davidas Matulionis, an aide to the Lithuanian president, stated that Moscow is trying to divide the unity of these countries and force them to limit their support for Ukraine.
“We strongly condemn any threats to use force and any escalation of rhetoric. Russia’s efforts to force us to stop or in any way limit our military support for Ukraine have been, are, and will remain futile,” Matulionis said.
Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Belgium stated that Moscow is prepared to use “its entire arsenal of weapons” if NATO countries attempt to isolate the Kaliningrad region from the rest of Russia.
NATO confirmed that it had received an unofficial document from the Russian embassy containing such warnings. Alliance spokesperson Allison Hart condemned the threats of force, particularly nuclear rhetoric, and called on Russia to end the war against Ukraine.
