LSM invites young people to free media training in Latvia
In Latvia, Latvian Public Media LSM has announced recruitment of young people for its new LSM Starts educational project. It combines the Latvijas Radio 5 radio DJ school and the Media Academy.
Two programmes
The project offers two programmes: for radio DJs and multimedia. Participants will study the basics of the media field free of charge, learn from professionals in radio, television and digital media, and gain practical skills in a modern media environment.
Both programmes include a shared introductory course. It covers improvisation, critical thinking, public speaking, journalism, directing, creative thinking, programme production, marketing and creating content for social media.

After the introductory module, classes will continue in subjects corresponding to the chosen specialization.
Applications
Online applications for both programmes will be accepted until 20 September 2026. Selected participants will begin training on 5 October.
LSM board member Ieva Aile, who is responsible for programme and service development, called LSM Starts an investment in the future of Latvia's media. According to her, the project is also intended to help LSM better understand the needs of young audiences.
