Macron called an emergency meeting in response to the high school students' protests
French President Emmanuel Macron will hold an emergency cabinet meeting amid the large-scale student protests currently taking place across the country.
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu and Education Minister Édouard Geoffroy will join the meeting. The meeting will take place during the third phase of protests by French high school students.
On October 6, demonstrations and blockades of educational institutions are taking place in various regions of France. Teachers, parents, and labor unions have also joined the protests.
According to the French Ministry of Education, as of October 6, classes have been fully or partially suspended at 891 of 3,700 high schools.

Student protests in France have already caused about 20 million euros in damages, according to a preliminary estimate by the Régions de France association.
