NATO warns of a rise in hybrid attacks on the Alliance's energy sector

NATO member states are increasingly concerned about hybrid attacks on the energy sector amid Russia’s war against Ukraine.

This is stated in the annual report by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The document emphasizes that the resilience of energy infrastructure and supply chains is becoming critical in the face of growing threats.

NATO notes that the war against Ukraine has shown that the energy sector could become one of the main targets in the event of a potential attack on the Alliance.

The organization is already analyzing Ukraine’s experience and strengthening training, preparedness, and coordination to protect critical infrastructure.

In this context, the recent incident in Germany is also mentioned, where tens of thousands of households and businesses were left without power after a cable bridge in Berlin was set on fire.

As a reminder, the NATO mission in Iraq has evacuated all personnel to Europe.

Rutte also called on NATO countries to support the U.S. military operation against Iran.
