Hebei industrial companies' sales via livestreams reach 21 billion yuan

More than 16,000 industrial enterprises in China’s Hebei province began using e-commerce livestreams this year to expand global sales. As of early July, sales through online broadcasts had reached approximately 21 billion yuan, or about $3.12 billion, ECNS reports.

Broadcasts from enterprises

According to the outlet, some manufacturers are engaging foreign employees as livestream hosts directly from production sites.

Hebei Pingle Grain Machinery, which exports half of its products, began holding livestreams in May. Chinese and foreign hosts take part in the broadcasts, demonstrating how the equipment operates. The company said it has already received potential orders worth approximately 50 million yuan.

Cold roll-forming equipment

A company from the city of Cangzhou that manufactures cold roll-forming equipment has trained nearly 30 sales representatives to conduct broadcasts, including foreign employees. This year, its sales amounted to nearly 200 million yuan, with 96% of the volume going to overseas markets.

Livestreams account for 30% of this enterprise’s total revenue. ECNS noted that this format helps promote exports of products from local industrial clusters.
