An FSB colonel was sentenced to 11 years in prison for extorting money through Telegram channels
The Moscow Garrison Military Court sentenced Mikhail Polyakov, a former FSB colonel and administrator of the Telegram channel “Kremlin Laundry,” to 11 years in a strict-regime penal colony. He was found guilty of extortion; the court also stripped him of his rank and fined him 800,000 rubles.
According to the investigation, while Polyakov was still working for the FSB, he and his accomplices extorted money from executives of the Lanit Group in exchange for removing negative posts and refraining from publishing them in the future. Between 2020 and 2023, company representatives transferred a total of 50 million rubles to him.
In addition to “Kremlin Laundry,” the case files mention the Telegram channels “Nezigar,” “VChK-OGPU,” “Banksta,” The Moscow Post, and Brief.
