Poland will assist Ukraine in the production and maintenance of Patriot missiles
Poland will cooperate with Ukraine in the production and maintenance of PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot systems following the signing of a multilateral agreement with the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden to establish a maintenance center for these missiles in Europe.
According to the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Poland has become one of four NATO countries granted the status of a recipient of technologies related to the production and maintenance of PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot systems.
“Today, no transfer of equipment to Ukraine takes place without Poland’s involvement,” Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized.
He noted that following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement granting Ukraine a license to manufacture missiles for the Patriot systems, Poland will play an important role in implementing this project.
“Poland is one of the countries designated by the United States as a location where the production and maintenance of these missiles are to take place, so we will also cooperate with Ukraine in this area,” the defense minister emphasized.
At the same time, he noted that launching Patriot missile production in Ukraine is a complex process and will take a considerable amount of time.
“Currently, missiles for the Patriot systems are produced only in the U.S., and even there, production volumes do not meet the needs of the United States itself. Therefore, this process must be accelerated. We are determined, and Poland is ready to immediately begin maintenance and take further steps,” Kosiniak-Kamysz stated.
In addition, the minister reported that Poland and Ukraine are continuing negotiations regarding the possible transfer of Polish MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in exchange for Ukrainian drone production technology.
“I hope this proposal will have a positive outcome,” he noted.
Kosiniak-Kamysz also announced that the rotation of U.S. military personnel in Poland is set to resume in the coming weeks. According to him, the size of the U.S. contingent will exceed 10,000 troops.
This was stated by Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The idea of establishing production of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems in Ukraine, proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, will not yield quick results. It could take years to implement such a project.
Trump stated that the U.S. may allow Ukraine to manufacture missiles for the Patriot system.
As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Spain ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara, declaring his intention to sever trade relations and halt visits between the two countries.
Before the start of the NATO summit in Ankara, U.S. President Donald Trump once again accused allies of underfunding the Alliance, while praising the work of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
