Lindsey Graham, an American senator and close ally of Trump, has died
On the evening of July 11 in the United States, Lindsey Graham, a Republican senator from South Carolina and an ally of Donald Trump, died at the age of 72. According to his office, he passed away following a sudden and brief illness.
Lindsey Graham had long been one of the most influential figures in the Republican Party and an active participant in U.S. foreign policy, particularly regarding Ukraine.
During the full-scale invasion, Graham made 10 visits to Kyiv, consistently advocating for increased military aid to Ukraine, particularly the supply of air defense systems. He also became one of the main authors of a bipartisan bill to impose tough sanctions and tariffs against Russia and countries that purchase Russian oil, seeking to deprive the Kremlin of the financial resources needed to continue the war.
This was reported by The Washington Post, citing a statement from the senator’s office.
A few days before his death, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham visited the production facilities of the Ukrainian miltech company SkyFall, where he familiarized himself with the latest developments in the field of unmanned technologies. During the visit, he praised the quality of Ukrainian engineering solutions and emphasized the importance of cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. in the field of defense innovation.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, First Class, to U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal, the authors of the anti-Russian sanctions. European politicians also received the award.
