William Orbit, producer of Madonna's hits, has died
British music producer and composer William Orbit, who worked on one of Madonna’s most successful albums, *Ray of Light*, has died. He was 69.
Orbit died on July 23, but his family did not announce his death until August 7.
“It is with deep sadness that the family and friends of William Orbit announce that he passed away at home on July 23, 2026. We are deeply saddened by his passing. He will be sorely missed by us and by the many people whose lives he touched with his music, friendship, and kindness,” the family said in a statement.
Orbit gained the most fame through his collaboration with Madonna on the album *Ray of Light* (1998), which included the hits “Frozen,” “Ray of Light,” and “The Power of Goodbye.” The singer won three Grammy Awards for this album.
In addition to Madonna, William Orbit worked with the bands Blur and All Saints, and also pursued his own musical projects.
