Plaintiffs against the Kennedy Center call on leadership to resign — The Hill
In the United States, eight organizations in the fields of architecture and cultural heritage preservation that are plaintiffs in a case against the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts have called on the institution’s leadership to resign or consider appointing an external receiver. The Hill reports.
Plaintiffs’ position
In a statement conveyed by attorney Greg Werkheiser, the coalition said that the current leadership of the Kennedy Center has a fiduciary duty to protect the historic building and its grounds. According to the plaintiffs, if the leaders are unwilling or unable to fulfill this duty, the court should consider appointing an external receiver or replacing the leadership.
The plaintiffs believe there is a risk of irreversible loss of the building due to deliberate actions, negligence, or improper management. They also said that the court allowed the coalition to file additional motions if new facts require judicial intervention.

Possible court filing
Werkheiser, whose law firm Cultural Heritage Partners is one of three firms representing these organizations, told journalists that the coalition will likely soon file a motion to appoint an external receiver.
The plaintiffs include the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Committee of 100 on the Federal City, the DC Preservation League, Docomomo US, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Society of Architectural Historians, and the Cultural Landscape Foundation.
The attorney also said that the plaintiffs are monitoring photographs attached to a court filing by House of Representatives member Joyce Beatty. They show President Donald Trump aboard Air Force One reading a sign saying “Kennedy Center DEMOLISHED.” Werkheiser stressed that the coalition would wait for confirmation of this information before making firm assessments.
