Finnish Prime Minister Calls on Europe to Become Stronger Than Russia — Bloomberg
On September 12, the Prime Minister of Finland stated that Europe must build up its strength and capabilities to such a level that Russia would not dare to challenge it. According to him, Europe must be strong enough to deter Russia.
“Europe must be so strong that it would not even occur to Russia to challenge us—whether here, in the north, in the Baltic states, or anywhere else—by testing the strength of Article 5 or EU solidarity,” he said.
According to Orpo, Russian threats have already roused Europe.
“All these events that have taken place here—airspace violations, the use of migration as a tool of pressure, hybrid and cyberattacks, and overt threats from Russia—have really shaken Europe awake. Russia’s actions are becoming increasingly serious and overt,” he added in an interview with Bloomberg.
As a reminder, the price of diesel in Finland has returned to the level seen at the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
In Finland, more than €30 million will be allocated to infrastructure projects in Paltamo.
