President Putin increases Russia’s army strength to 2.44 million — Anadolu Agency
In Russia, an aggressor state, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree setting the authorized strength of the armed forces at 2,441,630 personnel. According to Anadolu Agency, this number includes 1,550,500 active-duty servicemen.
An increase of 15,500 servicemen
The new decree provides for an increase of 15,500 active-duty servicemen. The document was published on Russia’s official legal information portal.

Funding and previous figures
The Russian government was instructed to allocate to the Ministry of Defense the federal budget funds necessary to maintain the established authorized strength of the armed forces. The government must provide this funding in accordance with the decree.
In July, Putin had already increased the authorized strength of Russia’s armed forces. At that time, the total strength stood at 2,426,130 personnel, including 1,535,000 active-duty servicemen. The new total strength figure exceeds the July level by 15,500 personnel.
