Turkish President Erdoğan concludes New York visit — Anadolu Agency
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has concluded a four-day visit to the United States, during which he stayed in New York, took part in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, held bilateral meetings and addressed representatives of the Turkish community in the United States. Anadolu Agency reports.
During the trip, Erdoğan met, among others, with Vietnamese President Tô Lâm, Chairman of Libya’s Presidential Council Mohammed al-Menfi, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The parties discussed bilateral relations, regional security, trade, investment and cooperation in the defence sector.
Meetings on the sidelines of the General Assembly
In New York, the Turkish president also held talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, Polish President Karol Nawrocki, as well as Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Erdoğan took part in a meeting between US President Donald Trump and representatives of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon. Trump said the countries present had been working to end the bloodshed in Gaza and were ready to make a significant contribution to rebuilding the enclave.

Talks with Zelenskyy and agreements with Iraq
Separately, Erdoğan met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They discussed bilateral relations, the war that Russia, as the aggressor state, is waging against Ukraine, and the regional situation. The Turkish president stated Ankara’s readiness to support efforts to achieve lasting peace, and also stressed the need to guarantee the security of navigation in the Black Sea, calling attacks on commercial vessels unjustified.
At a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, the sides agreed to deepen security cooperation. A joint statement says that Turkish forces will gradually transfer the Bashiqa-Zilkan base to Iraq’s federal government in accordance with an agreed mechanism and timetable. Ankara and Baghdad also declared their intention to expand trade and investment and accelerate strategic projects, including the Development Road project.
Statements regarding the United States and the climate summit
At a meeting with Turkish-American businesspeople, Erdoğan said that strategic cooperation between Türkiye and the United States is developing in all areas. He noted that trade turnover between the two countries reached $28 billion in the first eight months of the year and announced plans to expand cooperation in energy, civil aviation, technology and the defence industry.
Erdoğan also announced that Türkiye will host the UN Climate Change Conference COP31 in Antalya from November 9 to 20, 2026.
