Putin said the war will last another three years
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin stated that the war against Ukraine will continue for at least another three years. According to him, this must be taken into account when drafting Russia’s national budget.
Putin made these remarks during a meeting with senators of the eighth convocation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, which concluded its work ahead of the September elections.
During his speech, the Kremlin leader stated that defense spending will remain Russia’s top priority in the coming years. He also claimed that Western sanctions allegedly have no serious impact on the Russian economy.
Speaking about the war against Ukraine, Putin declared that Russia “will achieve all of its stated goals” and reiterated the claim that the Russian population allegedly supports the war.
“The Russian people cannot be broken,” he declared, accusing Western countries of attempting to weaken Russia’s economy and scientific potential.
Separately, Putin thanked State Duma deputies for passing laws that, in his words, were necessary to ensure the war’s continuation. He also called Ukraine’s actions “terrorist.”
At the same time, the Russian media outlet “Dozhd” highlighted the scale of the State Duma’s legislative activity over the past five years. During this period, deputies passed 2,980 laws, some of which were aimed at meeting the needs of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The speech also referenced statements by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin regarding the parliament’s work under wartime conditions. Earlier, in 2018, Putin stated that starting a war could be a way to conceal domestic economic problems; however, since the start of the full-scale invasion, the Kremlin has continued to deny the negative consequences of the war for Russia.
