Roland Garros 2026 has crowned the winner of the women's tournament
The women's final of the 2026 French Open has concluded in Paris, where 17-year-old neutral player Mirra Andreeva confidently defeated Polish qualifier Maja Hwalinska. The match lasted less than an hour and a half and ended in two sets. For Andreeva, this is her first Grand Slam title.
This year’s French Open final turned out to be quite quick and almost devoid of suspense, although a much tougher battle was expected at the start, since the decisive match pitted young star Mirra Andreeva against Polish tennis player Maja Hwalinska, who had made it to the final through qualifying and had already surprised the tournament with that feat.
Andreeva immediately took control of the match, playing calmly, without taking unnecessary risks, but with great precision, and gradually unsettled her opponent, who couldn’t keep up with the pace and often made mistakes in key rallies. The match score—6-3, 6-2—speaks for itself: the final lasted about an hour and a half, but the tension effectively vanished in the first set, when the favorite seized the initiative and never let it go until the very end.
For Mirra Andreeva, this victory was her first career win at a Grand Slam tournament, and after the match she appeared emotionally reserved, although this result marked a true breakthrough for her in professional tennis.
It is also worth mentioning the performance of Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, who was eliminated in the semifinals after losing to the future champion, while still achieving one of the best results of her career at a clay-court major.
Meanwhile, the tournament in Paris is not over yet—the men’s final is still to come, where Italian Flavio Cobolli and German Alexander Zverev will compete for the title, and it is this match that will put the final period on this year’s Roland Garros.
Meanwhile, one of the biggest upsets of the year continues at Roland Garros. Polish tennis player Maja Chwalinska, who was ranked only 114th in the world before the tournament began, has advanced to the French Open final.
On Thursday, June 4, Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk, who defeated Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals, will play in the semifinals of Roland Garros 2026. The Ukrainian’s opponent will be Russian Mira Andreeva. The match will determine one of the finalists of the prestigious Grand Slam tournament in Paris.
Svitolina also confidently defeated an American player and advanced to the round of 16 at Indian Wells.
