Russians will lose access to Disney movies on online streaming services

Russian online movie theaters and video streaming services will be able to show Disney content only until the end of 2026, after which the current licensing agreements will expire, and the American studio has no plans to sign new contracts.

This was reported by Kommersant, citing financial statements from the Russian legal entity Walt Disney Company CIS LLC.

After the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022, Disney suspended its operations in Russia. The company halted the distribution of its films, ceased licensing content and products, and shut down a number of other business operations.

Despite this, some Disney content remained available on Russian platforms due to existing licensing agreements. In 2023, the studio’s popular films and cartoons began to gradually disappear from streaming services, though certain classic titles are still available on some platforms.
