The investigation into the construction of the Tashlyk Pumped-Storage Power Plant is gaining momentum
Energoatom has stated that it is fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities in the investigation into possible misconduct during the construction of the Tashlyk Pumped Storage Power Plant, which is one of the key energy facilities in the Mykolaiv region. The company emphasizes that the individuals mentioned in the case files have already been dismissed, and the company itself supports the investigation and is providing all necessary documents.
Energoatom confirmed that the investigation concerns a suspected corruption scheme involving the misappropriation of funds during the implementation of the Tashlyk Pumped Storage Power Plant project, and that the case was opened back in November 2022, so the current investigative actions are a continuation of the previous proceedings, which cover one of the country’s critical infrastructure facilities.
The company’s statement notes that individuals who may have been involved in potential abuses, according to the investigation, were dismissed as early as September 2023, and among those implicated is the former head of the “Atomproektinzhenering” division within “Energoatom,” whom investigators link to possible violations during the performance of work.
Energoatom emphasizes that it is providing full cooperation to law enforcement agencies, submitting the necessary documents, ensuring access to information, and not obstructing investigative actions, stressing that it is interested in the most objective determination of all the circumstances of the case and in holding all involved parties accountable if violations are confirmed.
The company also stated that it adheres to a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, is strengthening internal control mechanisms, and is ready to continue cooperating with anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies to ensure transparency in the implementation of state energy projects and the protection of the state’s interests. This is stated in the company’s announcement.
