Xi Jinping and Sadyr Japarov sign treaty on permanent good-neighborliness
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, following talks in Bishkek, signed a joint declaration on the high-quality development of a comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era and a bilateral treaty on permanent good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation. The talks took place on August 31 during the Chinese leader's state visit to Kyrgyzstan.
According to ECNS, Xi said that China is ready to develop practical cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, the results of which will be tangible and accessible to the public. He also congratulated Japarov on the 35th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's independence.
Trade and infrastructure
Xi called on the sides to implement the intergovernmental plan for economic and trade cooperation, diversify goods in mutual trade, and develop digital trade and cross-border e-commerce. He also stressed the need to ensure high-quality construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
The Chinese president proposed modernizing border crossing points, deepening the alignment of institutions, standards and rules, and developing projects in renewable energy, resource processing and green minerals. Among other areas, he named a joint laboratory within the Belt and Road Initiative, cooperation in artificial intelligence and technological innovation.

Japarov said Kyrgyzstan is ready to strengthen interaction with China in trade and investment, transport connectivity, technology, energy, mineral resources and the green economy. He also confirmed his intention to facilitate the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
Security and documents
Xi called for expanding cooperation between law enforcement agencies and security services in countering terrorism, extremism, separatism, illicit drug trafficking and transnational crime. The Chinese side also stated its readiness to strengthen coordination with Kyrgyzstan within the UN and the SCO.
The leaders also attended the exchange of cooperation documents on investment, transport, customs and relations between sister cities. According to ECNS, during the visit the sides signed more than 20 documents in science and technology, education, culture, media and other areas.
