Xi Jinping ordered the Chinese military to accelerate the development of drones and AI

Chinese leader Xi Jinping has instructed the military to more actively integrate unmanned technologies and artificial intelligence into the army’s operations. In this way, Beijing aims to build a more modern and technologically advanced armed forces.

During a speech to military leaders, Xi Jinping emphasized the need to integrate artificial intelligence and autonomous systems into the combat operations of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

This statement underscores Beijing’s growing concerns about a technological gap or competition with the United States in the field of military technology, as the U.S. is also actively investing in the use of AI and autonomous systems.

China’s leadership believes that unmanned platforms and artificial intelligence will change the nature of modern warfare, and therefore the military must adapt its strategies, training, and personnel development to these new realities.

The Chinese leader’s call came as the PLA prepares to mark its 100th anniversary in 2027—a date by which, according to Xi Jinping, the military must demonstrate significant progress in building modern armed forces.

This was reported with reference to Bloomberg and the Chinese state news agency Xinhua.

Xi Jinping made a high-profile statement regarding the takeover of Taiwan.

China has rejected accusations that it is training Russian military personnel.

Earlier, China responded to the strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
