Xi Jinping congratulates Chinese educators on Teachers’ Day
Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated the country’s teachers and education sector workers on the eve of Teachers’ Day. In China, the holiday is celebrated annually on September 10.
In his congratulatory message, Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, called on teachers to improve their professional competence and educate a new generation of young people capable of fulfilling the mission of national rejuvenation.

The president called for strengthening public respect for educators, supporting education and joining efforts to make China a leading country in the field of education.
According to the data cited in the report, China’s education system includes approximately 440,000 educational institutions of all levels and types. They educate 280 million people, while the number of teachers stands at 18.7 million.
