The U.S. is considering the possibility of a ground operation in Iran, which could begin in the near future.

This was reported by a Wall Street Journal journalist, who cited three sources in the U.S. Senate.

According to their information, at least three Republicans in Congress, including the chairs of the Armed Services Committees, are “strongly hinting” at preparations for a ground operation.

“At least three Republicans in Congress, including the chairs of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees, are strongly hinting that a ground operation in Iran is being planned and could potentially begin in the near future,” the report states.

According to sources, the U.S. has already deployed thousands of additional Marines and paratroopers to the Middle East. It is also expected that a military ship carrying Marine units will soon come under the control of U.S. Central Command.

In addition, the Pentagon has begun preparing rapid-response forces that could join the approximately 50,000 U.S. troops already deployed in the region as part of Operation "Epic Fury."

Against the backdrop of these statements, Tehran is strengthening the defense of key facilities, particularly Kharq Island—the country’s main oil hub, which has previously been targeted by the U.S.

Earlier, President Donald Trump stated his readiness to repeat strikes on Iranian infrastructure.

The situation in the region remains tense, and the possible launch of a ground operation could significantly impact the security situation in the Middle East and global markets.

As a reminder, the Pentagon has confirmed the deployment of U.S. Army units to the Middle East amid the escalating situation in the region. Paratroopers and a combat brigade are being deployed to the region.
