Starmer: Russia is not winning the war; Europe must step up the pressure
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that Russia is not winning the war against Ukraine and called on European countries to step up pressure on the Kremlin.
This was reported by The Guardian.
According to him, it is necessary to continue supporting Ukraine, particularly through actions against Russia’s “shadow fleet,” which he called a key element of the agenda.
Starmer emphasized that Ukraine is “holding firm,” regaining territory, and inflicting significant losses on Russian forces.
He stressed that despite Putin’s statements, after several years of war, Russia is not winning and cannot win, and therefore must stop blocking the path to a just peace.
The Prime Minister also noted that, despite the focus on the Middle East, the threat from Russia has not disappeared but, on the contrary, has grown. Additionally, he highlighted Ukraine’s experience in countering modern threats, particularly drone attacks.
As a reminder, the Kremlin has expressed hope for new negotiations with Ukraine.
The Kremlin also commented on the upcoming talks in the U.S. without Russia’s participation.
