A court in Croatia has postponed Zhuravlev's extradition
A court in Croatia has postponed consideration of the possible extradition of Ukrainian citizen Volodymyr Zhuravlev to Germany in connection with the case involving the sabotage of the “Nord Stream” pipelines.
The hearing was scheduled for September 4 but was postponed after the German side updated the European arrest warrant. According to the defense, a new charge—“war crime”—was added to the document.
This was reported by the law firm “Katerynchuk, Moor & Partners,” which represents Zhuravlev’s interests.
The lawyers noted that the update to the warrant marks a new phase in the defense’s fight to protect the rights of the Ukrainian citizen. A new date for the court hearing has not yet been announced.
Zhuravlev had previously been detained in Poland on the basis of a German warrant. A Polish court denied Germany’s request for his extradition and released the Ukrainian.
In August 2026, Zhuravlev was detained again, this time in Croatia. The court was to determine whether the country could extradite him to Germany. The defense also raised the question of whether such an extradition is permissible following the previous decision by the Polish court.

A second Ukrainian has been detained in Croatia in connection with the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage case.
The investigation into the alleged sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines is now entering a new phase. The defense attorneys for Ukrainian soldier Serhiy Kuznetsov reported that they had received the indictment from the German side just the day before. According to them, they now have about two months to thoroughly review the case materials and prepare their defense.
In Germany, charges have been filed against a Ukrainian national in the Nord Stream case.
